An all-encompassing API Analog Front End
TCS-II stands as a comprehensive input module, encompassing a mic preamp, dynamic processing, precision EQ, and output level control all within a single rack space. Boasting an array of advanced features, including extensive signal metering, multiple balanced insert points, and an output mute switch, the TCS-II encapsulates the superior characteristics of a large console input channel.
Crafted through meticulous engineering, the TCS-II provides all essential components for recording audio signals. The journey begins with the renowned 512c Mic Preamplifier, offering the added versatility of Mic, Line, or Instrument input switching. Following is the 527A multi-mode Compressor, equipped with fully adjustable Threshold, Attack, Release, and Ratio controls on detented pots. Notably, the patented THRUST® circuit within the 527A imparts a distinctive “in-your-face” punch, earning accolades as an award-winning feature.
The TCS-II also features the iconic API EQ, the 550A three-band Equalizer, celebrated for its switchable frequencies and ±12dB boost or cut. The EQ’s High and Low frequency bands can be individually switched to function as shelving EQs, and the inclusion of the “B.P. Filter” switch inserts a 50Hz to 15KHz bandpass filter.
At the unit’s output lies the 325 Line Driver, directly sourced from API console designs and equipped with an output level pot and a 10-segment meter. The meter can be toggled to display either the preamp or output level. Each processing element within the TCS-II can be independently switched in or bypassed, with an internal flip switch facilitating routing of the compressor after the EQ if desired. Additional features include a sidechain input and the renowned API 2520/transformer combination, culminating in the perfect solution for those seeking the high-performance API console sound.
